- If however the Food license renewal application is not filed in this time, then a fine of Rs. 100 would be charged for each day of delay.

How to Renew Food License Online?
- Form A / Form B Filling: Form A or Form B is therefore required to be filled which depends on the qualification of the food operator. These are fundamental structures that include the business practices of the food operator that need to be filled with self-attested confirmation that you must agree to the rules of the Food Safety and Standards Act. The application for renewal must be accompanied by an audit report or Food Safety Management System Plan, or Certificate regarding food safety management system has to be filed.
Form IX i.e. form of the nomination of persons by the company has to be filed in the prescribed format.
After receiving the application for FSSAI renewal along with all the necessary documents, the authorities would then examine the application and if necessary, could also arrange for an inspection at the premises of the food business operator in order to make sure that all the details provided regarding the particular food business are true and reliable, and all the information have been disclosed and submitted.
After successful inspection of the business undertakings by the authorities, if they are satisfied, then they issue a license in favour of the food business operator.

Manufacturing and Processing Units

- Layout Plan / Blueprint Plan of the processing unit showing the dimensions in meters/square meters and operation-wise area allocation.
- A letter of Authority from an authorised person nominated by the manufacturer with name and address, along with alternative authorised person indicating the powers vested with them via assisting the officers in inspections, a collection of samples, packing and dispatch.
Food License Renewal Application Status
The applicant can verify the status of an application-
- For verifying the application status, go online, and tap on Incomplete application and License
- A full Report for Central or State Licenses unfinished applications will be displayed.
- The candidate has to tap on the proceed further and complete the application.
- If the candidate has to submit Form B, then upload Form B.

The application will be cancelled if the application includes invalid business or if the candidate has filled the wrong state for proofs.
Time Duration For Getting Food License Renewal
A Basic FSSAI registration can be renewed within 7 days. If the food business operator has a Central or State License, then it will take about 30 days to renew. Still, one can resume doing the business if they have given the application.
FSSAI Renewal License can be applied for a validity period ranging from 1 to 5 years. The application for Renewal of License necessitates being registered for additional continuity of business and legality of the license.
The Case Of Non-Renewal Of License
The FSSAI online registration of the food business is necessary for compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. FSSAI has asked that all FBOs must apply for renewal in 30 days before the prevailing license expires.
If in case, the application for the renewal of the license is not submitted in the specified time, the FBOs are imposed with a penalty of ₹100 per day. In extension to this, FSSAI may consider the license as expired and FBO need to apply for a new license. In case of non-compliance, the business operator has to pay the fine for non-renewal of license. Non-compliance with Food License Regulations
Non-compliance with the FSSAI regulations can prove to be harmful with a harsh penalty and may cause harm to your brand reputation.
Food inspections will be conducted by Food Safety Officers and compliance levels will be given for the food business. Compliance will be rated as below –
- Compliance(C)
- Non-compliance(NC)
- Partial Compliance
- Not Applicable/ Not Observed (NA)
In accordance with the above tagging, the Food Safety Officer can issue an Improvement Notice. The officer can also cancel the license if the standards are not sustained even after warnings.
If the FBO is not happy with the Food Safety Officer’s improvement notice, they can request to the State Commissioner of Food Safety. Their judgments can also put to a challenge by an appeal towards Food Safety Appellate Tribunal or High Court.
Reasons why your Food Renewal Licence can Cancel
If the application is given back to you to change the reason can be :
- Invalid business, you have no choice for changing the sort of business like dairy units, oil processing units etc.
- If you have chosen your bases in the wrong State.
- Filled the wrong address, Id proof or any other detail
- The quality of products have been let down and not worked on the improvement notice.
- Mentioned the business name wrong or spelling errors in the name of the FBO.
- In both these cases, you have to cancel the application and have to register a new application. The application can be cancelled by clicking on the cancel application click in the Action column in the Application Modification Form.
Important Points for Renewal of Food License
- Not renewing the FSSAI license can have legal implications, fine or punishment.
- The appeal for renewal can be filed 120 days before the expiry of License/Certificate.
- The administrative experts recommend applying for renewal of a license as soon as it can be done.
- As per the FSSAI license and registration laws, it is mandatory to apply for the renewal of license 30 days earlier to its date of expiry. On declining to do so, the FBO is asked to pay a late fee Rs.100/day.
